After hearing a story on National Public Radio regarding the population loss figures from the 2010 U.S. Census for rural counties, Todd decided to photograph the square of the county seats of many of the rural areas that he'd photographed across the southern U.S. and investigate the statistics listed in each of the galleries below as it related to the specific county. He began this project in 2011 and to this point has photographed approximately 80 county squares, circles, and lines.
